Hi, I'm Cameron. I live in Alberta, Canada with my family, and I build AI phone systems for a living.

That surprises people, coming from the guy telling you to watch out for AI on the phone. But I'm not a reporter covering this from the outside. I'm in the room building it. Companies hire me to put AI on their phone lines, through my consultancy Brasshelm and my company Bela Helps, which gets this technology working for small businesses without them having to become tech companies to do it.

So here's why I started this. When you build something every day, you see exactly how it works, including how it can be used to fool people. And this is new. It got good so fast that it fools just about everyone. I've watched sharp, careful people get taken by a voice on the phone, because none of us have had the time to build an instinct for it yet. It is not about being naive. It is about the rules changing overnight.
